As-salāmu ʿalaykum,
As we continue through these sacred weeks of Muḥarram and approach Arbaʿīn, we are grateful to share a second update from Lantern Publications and Lantern Kids.
This has been a season of real movement for our small publishing house: new books launched, children’s titles prepared for release, major translation projects nearing completion, and important steps taken to make our catalogue more visible to readers, libraries, schools, and institutions across Australia.

New from Lantern Kids
Muhammad Jawad and the Sword of Ilya
Muhammad Jawad and the Sword of Ilya is now available from Lantern Kids. This thrilling Islamic fantasy adventure follows ten-year-old Muhammad-Jawad from strange noises beneath his house into a world of a talking bird, a glowing Qur’an, and a sky-portal to a forbidden realm on the brink of darkness. It is a story of courage, sincerity, and the battles fought within the heart.

Launched in Muḥarram
An Honourable Betrayal
An Honourable Betrayal has also launched this Muḥarram. A political thriller rooted in the moral vision of Shia Islam, the novel explores power, conscience, silence, betrayal, and the price of standing with truth. In a month where we return again and again to the question of loyalty to justice, this book asks what honour really demands when the world around us chooses compromise.

Major works nearing completion
Al-Amālī by Shaykh al-Ṭūsī
Al-Amālī is nearing completion, with final editing now in process. This is one of the most important classical Shia works we have undertaken: a major two-volume collection of narrations, theology, ethics, devotion, and spiritual instruction.
The translation is complete, editing is ongoing, and proofreading remains to be completed. We still need support to finalise this work and bring it into print with the care and quality it deserves.

Maʿālim al-Madrasatayn, Volume 1
Maʿālim al-Madrasatayn, Volume 1 is also almost complete. The full table of contents is now available on our website, giving readers a clearer view of the scope and importance of this major work by ʿAllāmah Sayyid Murtadha ʿAskarī.
We hope this project will open the door to more translations of ʿAllāmah ʿAskarī’s works for English-speaking readers seeking to understand Islamic history, authority, and the school of the Ahl al-Bayt (ʿa).

Like Maryam
Like Maryam, a biography of the life of Lady Fiḍḍah, the devoted companion and servant of Sayyida Fāṭima al-Zahrāʾ (ʿa), is also almost ready. The book is now undergoing final editing and proofreading. We are excited to bring this remarkable life to English-speaking readers, especially at a time when our communities need access to more biographies of righteous women in the Islamic tradition.

Institutional access and a refreshed title
We are also pleased to share that Lantern titles have been sent to the National Library archive and catalogued, making them easier for institutions in Australia to discover and order. This is an important step in helping our books move beyond homes and community shelves into broader educational, institutional, and public collections.

Alongside this, we have a number of exciting books on the horizon, as well as some powerful reprints for which we have been granted permission. We are not ready to announce all of them yet, but there is much more to come soon, in shāʾ Allāh.

Help us complete the next stage
Lantern Publications remains a small project with a large vision: to bring serious, beautiful, spiritually grounded Shia books into English, and to make them accessible to families, readers, educators, libraries, and institutions.
Every title requires translation, editing, proofreading, design, printing, distribution, and long-term care. If you are able to support the completion of major works such as Al-Amālī or Maʿālim al-Madrasatayn, your contribution will help bring beneficial knowledge into the hands of readers for years to come.
